The Organization – Dallas All Sports Association (DASA)
The Dallas All Sports Association (DASA) is 501(c)3 non-profit organization
founded in 1965 by Dallas businessman, Field Scovell whose love of sports was
only exceeded by his love of the Dallas community. In founding DASA, Scovell
envisioned a special organization, philanthropic in nature, created to award
recognition and scholarship grants to deserving individuals.
Mission Statement
The mission of DASA is to provide college scholarships for underserved youth who have been accepted by a college or university, but simply lack the financial support to attend.
The Cause
DASA’s cause is focused on their mission statement, providing scholarships for high school seniors who have already been accepted by a college or university, but simply lack the financial support to attend. Each year, DASA partners with local charities such as The Boys & Girls Club of the DFW Metroplex, Happy Hills Farms, Buckner Children’s Homes and World Champ Training to provide scholarships to hundreds of students. With the great need for financial assistance, DASA has committed to recognize and raise funds to award scholarships to deserving students in the DFW area.
History
The DASA organization has previously recognized some of the most valuable,
talented, and humanitarian individuals in the sports industry, such as Field
Scovell, Tom Landry, Emmitt Smith, George Gervin, Joe Montana, Dirk
Nowitzski, Keyshawn Johnson, Kyle Petty, Gale Sayers, Jerry Jones, Mark
Cuban, Lamar Hunt, Lee Trevino, Roger Staubach, Don Shula, Byron Nelson,
Tom Hicks, Tex Schramm, Michael Johnson, Nancy Lieberman, Ricky Williams,
Tony Dungy and James Brown, just to name a few. DASA has also had the privilege of gifting much needed scholarships to students and student athletes in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
